Where do you find beauty?

At our last Element service the small groups talked a lot about where they look to find examples of beauty. The leaders asked their small groups what features makes one beautiful.  We also looked at several magazine ads and talked about whether or not the models gave a realistic example of how woman look or should look.  Lets hear back from you ladies! what influences your style in fashion? How do the magazine ads make you feel? What does God and the Bible say about beauty and how women should look? lets get some feedback!

The Truth Can Set You Free

Last night was our first Element service! Months of planning and much prayer led up to last night.  Melanie Hobbs ushered us into a time of worship, and after, the girls heard testimonies from Lisa Villegas and several other Velocity girl leaders.  The leaders shared lies that they fell into when they listened to Satan instead of the Lord.  Topics such as veiwing God as a father that will never leave us, how to deal with divorce, depression, and body image were all discussed in our main session.  After, the girls broke into small groups where they learned the signigicance of having a quiet time with the Lord each day, and the girls also learned how to plan one. 

The overall theme that was shared through testimonies and in small groups was the concept of truth.  The goal of the night was to break away lies that Satan has told woman and reveal the truth about what God and His word say about those lies.  I pose the question now, "What is truth?"  How would you define truth? Post your comments and discuss what you think the word truth means and how you can decide if something is a truth or a lie.
